DEVI'S POV:
Today is the day. I am going to meet my family in person after so long, hope everything goes well. My mom called me informing that they are in the outskirts of the city and will reach in half an hour but it may take longer as the train usually slows down there and the traffic in the city is hectic as well. I wanted to go there to receive them but Ram and mom denied telling me not take any tension.
I wonder if my father is still indignant to me. I tried talking to him initially but he budges for nothing.
The reason is well..is a long story...
FLASHBACK:
AUTHOR's POV:
In a village near the borders of Karnataka, In a traditional yet well facilitated dwelling grew up our main female lead Aarna Devi.
Her father Krishnaraj Chowdhary and mother Ramya Chowdhary were openly loving couple and as far as she knew they had a love marriage and came out of their houses leaving everyone for the sake of the love they had for each other because their families did not accept their love.
They were a cute family of four and she saw how much her father struggled to provide for them initially in her childhood and by gods grace and her mother's immense support they were able to achieve to become one of the village's well versed family owning a few Lands and having an own business called "Livorganic" that her father started when she was just 2, which grew into a well known business that grows and exports ORGANIC vegetables and fruits to cities across the state.
She knew and understood by how her mother cries at times in front of her father, on how her mother misses her family and how they were late and so on, that something bothers them from within that she is not aware of, but never wanted to ask it herself.
She believes that everything has its own time and if it's time, She would know it.
She was a dad's princess and her brother however was everyone's prince. Devi loved her brother Ram. He was born when she was just four and when Aarna Devi first saw her brother while sitting on the bed next to her utterly tired mother, her father was sitting on the stool next to the bed holding the new born. she held his tiny palm and called out 'Ram', her favourite god who is also the village's main god and also the family's most trusted god. They always visited the temple and Devi cutely used to run into the temple muttering Ram for the entire time in the temple hence you could already guess how her brother was named.
Everything was going good. Aarna Devi grew up into a 13 year old and got her first periods on a fine Sunday morning.
After her small traditional function (coming-of-age) was over. One fine morning she was in the kitchen hurriedly packing lunch for her brother and herself made by the maiden because her parents had to visit a land where a commotion was going on. That's when Niraj came in.
Niraj Varma, her father's friend Kartikeya Varma's only son. Kartikeya Varma was the head of the village, very much known to his cruel nature and unstable mindset but he was the reason why Devi's family was able to find a living in that village then and also be what they are today. His son Niraj was 19 then, used to visit their home often claiming to be Ram's only close friend which actually is not true. Ram does not like Niraj even a bit. He always considered him a spoiled kid who never attended school and now is in the 11th due to his father's influence that ran across the village which includes the school and intermediate college too.
There was a time when Ram had enough and wanted to end his so called friendship with Niraj but was stopped by his father Krishna who did not want any commotion between families.
Krishnaraj even though knows how bad Kartikeya is, he always considered him a friend and someone close. He was unknown to Kartikeya's bad intentions on Ramya in the beginning which could not be satisfied by Ramya's wittiness who was aware of his bad eyes on her but she did not tell Krishnaraj even till today because Krishnaraj would have left that place immediately but she was intelligent enough to let it be and also be safe by always sticking to her husband.
But how wrong was she to think that the bad days have passed.
Coming back to Niraj who came into the kitchen and was standing just behind Devi who was filling the water bottles.
Devi however did not notice his presence yet and that's when Niraj bent and sniffed her hair startling the poor girl who turned around immediately and saw him standing too close to her.
She unknown to his intentions but clearly uncomfortable with the proximity said "Annaya, Meru Enti ikkada..?" (Brother, you here...?)
"Annaya? Evaru Annaya Neeku?"(brother? Who are you calling a brother?) Niraj was furious at her addressing him a brother. Well it isn't the first time she addressed him a brother, they did not have interactions at all, the only few times was during his visits to their home as Ram's friend or family gatherings or functions. That too when she would offer him something or just call him to pass him a message of someone calling him e.t.c.
Truth to be told he always had a bad intention towards Devi but he had better choices outside that gave him more than enough pleasure but his desires reached its peak looking at Devi on her coming-of-age ceremony. She looked different all together and he made a decision to make her his anyhow.
"Huh!? Annaya..." She started but soon got cut when Niraj held her arm and dragged her close, her head hit his chest and she hissed in pain when his hold tightened on her hand. She looked up, pain and fear clearly visible in her eyes but he seemed unaffected and spoke
"Listen to me carefully, I am not your brother rather I am your soon to be owner, I will marry you. So you need to learn how to address me accordingly and respect me. Got it?" She just looked at him with fear so he shouted again "I asked Got it?"
So she nodded with teary eyes and he smiled wickedly and patted her cheek.
Just then Ram shouted from the living room while checking his bag "Akka is the box ready? we are getting late".
"If you ever try to say what happened in here, no one will believe you and also that may make my work easier as well because I will let my dad talk to your dad about the marriage directly and I'm sure he wont say no. bye wife." He said smiling like a psycho and left the kitchen.
